MARINE
FUEL ADDITIVE
PROGRAM
SUMMARY
Attached
is a report of a nine-month pilot program AMALGAMATED tested on two boiler ships of one of
the largest worldwide corporations. The
international shipping involved in this project has not yet released their name for
publication. However, the magazine article is
scheduled to be published by Marine Propulsion International; but, all reference to
the fleet name involved has been deleted until we receive the test companys
concurrence.
The
first ship realized fuel savings averaging + 9.89% Loaded and +13.62% during Ballast:
the
second ship achieved: +6.75% Loaded and + 5.04% during Ballast operations.
The
differences in achievements are due to boiler design, the number of fuel nozzles and
construction, prior deposits within the system before treatment, and size and
configuration of the vessels. Cost
justification for the Marine Fuel Additive Test Program required less than 0.5% (one half
of one percent) in fuel savings.
Both
ships reported significant reductions in burner nozzle fouling and cleaning
requirements. Achievements with the
Marine Fuel Additive Treatment Program included improved fuel oil burning, boiler
fireside deposit modification, burner nozzle cleanup and overall boiler efficiency
improvements.
Further testing of six months duration will ensue with new ships testing scheduled for the near term coming months to negate possible prior deposit test variables.
Details of the nine-month program follow.
